Email Server Settings

When you use an email app (like Outlook, Mac Mail, or your phone’s Mail app), it needs to know how to connect to your email service.

Email server settings are the technical details the app uses to send and receive your emails.

Differences Between IMAP and POP

When setting up incoming mail, you usually have two protocol options: IMAP and POP. Here’s a simple comparison:

Getting Your Email Server Settings

To get your email server settings, you will first need to visit: https://hyperion.stonith.daisygroup.net:2096/

After logging in, click Webmail Home from the menu on the left.

Scroll down to find the Configure Mail Client section — this is where you’ll see your new server settings. You’ll need these details to set up your email in your preferred app (like Outlook, Mac Mail, or others).


Updating Your Email Application Settings

To continue using your email, you’ll need to update your email application with the new server details.

We’ve included guides for the most used apps in the sections below.

💡If your app isn’t shown and you’re not sure how to change the settings, it’s best to check with your email app’s support team for assistance.


Microsoft Outlook (Windows)

  1. Open Outlook

  2. Go to File, then Account Settings, then Account Settings

  3. Select your email account and click Change

  4. Update the Incoming mail server to mail.yourdomain.com

  5. Update the Outgoing mail server (SMTP) to smtp.yourdomain.com

  6. Click More Settings

  7. Under the Outgoing Server tab, tick My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication and use the same settings as my incoming mail server

  8. Under the Advanced tab, set the Incoming Server (IMAP/POP) to 993 (IMAP with SSL) or 995 (POP with SSL)

  9. On the same tab, set the Outgoing Server (SMTP) to 587 (TLS) or 465 (SSL)

  10. Click OK, then Next, then Finish


Microsoft Outlook (Mac)

  1. Open Outlook

  2. Click Outlook in the top menu, then Preferences, then Accounts

  3. Select your email account

  4. Update the Incoming Server to mail.yourdomain.com

  5. Then update the Outgoing Server to smtp.yourdomain.com

  6. Click More Options under Outgoing Server

  7. Set Authentication to User Name and Password

  8. Ensure the ports are correct: IMAP: 993 with SSL and SMTP: 587 (TLS) or 465 (SSL)

  9. Save the changes and close


Thunderbird

  1. Open Thunderbird

  2. Click Menu (☰), then Account Settings

  3. Select your email account, then Server Settings

  4. Update the Server Name to mail.yourdomain.com

  5. On the same page, update Port: 993 (IMAP) or 995 (POP) with SSL

  6. Click Outgoing Server (SMTP)

  7. Edit your SMTP server, using Server Name as smtp.yourdomain.com

  8. Update the Port to 587 (TLS) or 465 (SSL)

  9. Set the Authentication Method as Normal Password

  10. Click OK to save


Mac Mail (Apple Mail)

  1. Open Mail

  2. Go to Mail, then Preferences, then Accounts

  3. Select your email account

  4. Under Account Information, update the Incoming Mail Server to mail.yourdomain.com

  5. Click Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP), then Edit SMTP Server List

  6. Update the Server Name to smtp.yourdomain.com

  7. Then update the Port to 587 (TLS) or 465 (SSL)

  8. Set Use TLS/SSL to Yes

  9. Set Authentication to Password

  10. Click Save and close


Mobile & Other Apps (Generic Instructions)

  1. Open your email app's Account Settings

  2. Locate the Incoming Server Settings and set the Server to mail.yourdomain.com

  3. Set the Port to 993 (IMAP) or 995 (POP)

  4. Set Security to SSL/TLS

  5. Locate the Outgoing Server Settings and set the Server to smtp.yourdomain.com

  6. Set the Port to 587 (TLS) or 465 (SSL)

  7. Ensure Requires Authentication is set to Yes

  8. Your Username is your email address

  9. Your Password should be set as your email password

  10. Save the changes and test by sending/receiving a message
